In Ezekiel 12:25, God gives a powerful promise: “For I am the Lord: I will speak, and the word that I shall speak shall come to pass; it shall no more be prolonged.”
For those of us who have been waiting on God for a promise, even one from long ago, this is good news. While there are times when all we have to do is stand and see Him do His work, more often there is something He will require us to do in order to see it come to pass. But unlike Sarah and Abraham, who took matters into their own hands, we want to seek the Lord and find out exactly what He wants us to do in order to partner with Him to see His word come to pass.
Faith comes by hearing and we need to hear from God what that next step is for us and to be open to taking an action step when He directs us.
Recently, I shared with a friend of mine, Bishop Charles Ross, about how I was feeling a Divine frustration about some of the things I’m expecting in this season. It was almost like a pregnant woman waiting for the baby to arrive – you know it’s gonna happen, but you’re uncomfortable and can even get a bit grumpy while you’re waiting for the “when” part. Well he reminded me that in this season, God has given us the grace to make things happen and be successful, so now is the time to go after what He has promised us.
When David returned from battle, he was sickened to learn that while he and his men were away, the wives of the village and all that belonged to them had been taken captive. David enquired of the Lord whether or not he should go after them and retrieve all that was stolen by the enemy. The Lord gave him a resounding yes, so David went and kicked some serious butt in Ziklag and took back everything and then some.
God’s people are in a season of yes. Once you’ve heard from the Lord and discerned the timing and exactly what your next step is, you have the grace and favor to succeed. There are some things I’m going after in this season and I encourage you to seek the Lord and go after what it is you’re believing Him for.
