A businessman boarded a small aircraft in Dallas for a meeting in another city. When he saw his colleague across the aisle pull out his tray to catch up on some work, he was inspired to do the same. Not for a lack of effort on his part, he was unable to get his tray to come out. In frustration, he asked his colleague across the aisle for help.
Together, the two pushed and pulled and did everything possible to get the tray to come out, without success. Finally, he decided to take the seat ahead of him where the tray came out almost effortlessly. Several hours later when the plane landed, he was getting his luggage from above the seat and happened to notice the sign behind him saying, “Emergency Exit. Pull handle.” Horrified, he thought of what might have happened had he been successful in forcing that door open.
How many times do we try to force open a door, not realizing that God is protecting us by keeping it tightly closed? There are times when God uses a closed door to keep you safe in the centre of His perfect will. Even the right door opened at the wrong time can be to your detriment. You can trust God to open the right door for you at the right time. Until that time, you can trust that He has your best interests at heart.
He who called you is faithful and He will do it. 1 Thessalonians 5:24
